QUALITY ASSURANCE OF POSSII SHIPMENTS:

After the .FNL file has been extracted from the .MES file, check to ensure that the plate labels have no blanks and fill in any blanks with "0". For example, SF 123 should be SF00123. (ENTERPLATE does nor recognize blank fields.)

Check to see if the any of the plates are returning to the STScI and are already in the PDB. To quality assure the shipping list:

$run base:[executables]qa_pss_list

When the program asks for the fnl file name, give it a full file specification complete with extension. Again, there must be no gaps in the plate labels.

If we receive plates that are already in the pdb, change the PDB in-house flag to true by the command

look/pdb
and the option
7) Toggle in-house flag on current record.

SORTING OF POSSII SHIPMENT LISTS:

Plates are stored and usually scanned in order of field. The ROE electronic shipment lists are already in this order; however, POSSII shipments are in order of plate number. Use the VMS sort command to sort the .FNL list by survey and field. Use

sort_log.com (in the .POSSII subdirectory)

to sort the log list by survey and field. Compare the sorted .FNL and .LOG files to ensure that they match.
