GSC-II

COMPASS Database

·         Latest version of GSPC2 loaded into database
·         As of 31-March-2003 the COMPASS database contained 2,205,362,290 unique object index entries.  At this time, 6361 GSC2 plates are loaded and 6129 GSC2 plates are matched.

Plate Processing

Calibrations

·         Relatively high object matching failure rate with new version of GSPC2 is under investigation.

·         Loomis and Carollo observed with the La Palma JKT telescope for GSPC2 (Apr 4-13)

·         Garcia observed with ESO telescope at CTIO for GSCP2 (Apr 3-5)

·         Initial proper motion tests were completed by OATo. It appears that the currently implemented technique provide sufficient precision to support HST operations. It has been decided to defer an implementation of the more accurate technique to a future release.
